Exciting news from the creative front: system tokens for unsubscribe and view as web page!

Quick facts:

  • Marketo is smart and removes the normal unsubscribe or view as webpage items if their respective token is present in the email
  • Allows us to place unsubscribe and view as webpage on the template level
  • Allows us to place the unsubscribe and view as webpage ANYWHERE we want and STYLIZED as we want in the email

View as Webpage System Token

{{system.viewAsWebpageLink:default=edit me}}

  • Allows the “View as Webpage” link to be placed anywhere in the email, and even to be set on the template level.
  • Use whole token, without a default Marketo will not send the email.
  • Automatically removes the prepended “View as Webpage” text if that option is selected.
  • Token renders the link to the webpage view, so the token should be placed inside the anchor tag; for example

<a href=”{{system.viewAsWebpageLink:default=edit me}}”>View as Webpage</a>

Unsubscribe System Token

{{system.unsubscribeLink}}

  • Allows the “Unsubscribe” link to be placed anywhere in the email, and even to be set on the template level.
  • Functions EXACTLY as the appended unsubscribe link
    • Doesn’t count as “Clicked link in email”
    • Reads record as “Unsubscribed from email”
    • No need to “Clicked link and was not unsubscribe link”
  • Automatically removes the appended unsubscribe if the link is in the email.
  • Token renders the link to the unsubscribe page, so the token should be placed inside the anchor tag; for example

<a href=”{{system.unsubscribeLink}}”>Unsubscribe from our Newsletter</a>
